How often should a local business send customer updates?

Send when there is relevant information or an approaching action customers chose to hear about. Use a regular cadence only when your operation creates regular useful updates, and separate different interests through clear topics.

Let the service create the cadence

A weekly farm pickup can justify a weekly collection update. A shop with rare opening changes may need only occasional notices. The right pattern depends on the promise customers subscribed to, not a universal email frequency rule.

Before sending, ask what changed or what the reader can do now. A reminder may be useful near a real deadline, but repeating the same pitch several times does not add information. If some people want product drops and others only closures, let them choose separate types.

Before you send

  1. Review the update scope shown on signs and at signup.
  2. Identify the recurring operational events that create useful notices.
  3. Separate topics with different relevance or cadence.
  4. Review replies, opt-outs, and customer actions after several sends.

Message examples to adapt

These are original examples. Replace bracketed details and check every promise before using them.

Occasional operational scope

Choose [Business] shop notices for opening changes, closures, and collection arrangements. We send when those details change, rather than on a fixed newsletter schedule. Product release news is a separate choice at [signup URL].

Regular run scope

Choose [Business] [weekly run] announcements for its order opening, relevant cutoff reminders, and collection changes. Each message names the affected run. You can change topic choices through [preference route] if that cadence no longer helps.

Change the scope openly

If you begin sending a different kind of content, explain the new topic and invite preference changes. Adding a KeepMPosted type does not automatically enroll existing subscribers, so plan the invitation rather than assuming the audience carries over.

Do not use low opens alone as a reason to send more. Review the actual usefulness of the content and whether customers can complete its action.

Common questions

Is weekly always better than occasional?

No. A weekly cadence is useful only if the business has weekly information the subscriber wants.

Can customers select a weekly digest?

KeepMPosted message types select content interests. They do not create automatic digests or frequency settings.
