Choose message types for a local business update list

Use message types for recognizable content interests such as bread runs, market appearances, and shop notices. Keep the menu short enough to understand and select the relevant types before each send.

Choose types that change what someone wants to receive

Every KeepMPosted organization begins with General updates. You can keep that single type or add named types in Settings when interests differ. Up to 12 active types are supported, but fewer well-defined choices can be easier for customers and staff.

A send matches active subscribers whose choices overlap any selected type. Multiple matching types produce one delivery per selected channel. A person subscribed separately by email and Telegram can receive a copy on each channel. Preview the matching audience rather than adding topic counts.

Before you send

  1. List the recurring information customers ask to receive.
  2. Choose plain content names and avoid internal marketing labels.
  3. Explain new choices to existing subscribers; adding a type does not enroll them.
  4. Preview the audience and selected channels each time you send.

Message examples to adapt

These are original examples. Replace bracketed details and check every promise before using them.

A bakery's type plan

General updates: business-wide notices. Bread runs: ordering windows and collection changes. Shop notices: hours and service interruptions. Before sending, choose the types the content actually serves and inspect the matching audience. Keep private orders in the order process.

A farm's type plan

Harvest availability: confirmed crops and sale routes. Market appearances: dates and locations. Farm-stand notices: opening changes. Invite customers to select the topics they want at [signup URL]. Do not assume market subscribers also want every harvest announcement.

Maintain types without changing the promise silently

Renaming a type can improve clarity, but a name change should not conceal a different content scope. Invite preference review when the interest changes materially. Imported contacts begin with the default type rather than every new choice.

Archive an extra type when it is no longer offered. The default cannot be archived. Keep staff informed so they do not use a restored type for unrelated content.

Common questions

Are types schedules or digests?

No. They describe content interests; they do not schedule messages or create frequency preferences.

Can I rename the default type?

Yes. The default may be renamed, but it cannot be archived. Choose a name that remains accurate for default and imported subscribers.

Put this into practice

Start with the single default type, then add only the customer interests your business will maintain consistently.

KeepMPosted collects subscribers through a QR signup page and sends updates by email or Telegram using prepaid credits. Customers can choose the message types you offer. You write and send each update; SMS and scheduled sending are not available.
